A proverb needs the saying and the meaning. A story or a poem needs the point the question asked for.
The idea
Oral and written literature both sit on this paper. A proverb is a saying the community uses, plus the situation it fits. Writing the saying alone scores the memory. The mark for meaning needs the situation, in your own words, in the language of your entry. Do not stop at the title of a story or the name of a poem. Say what happens, or what the words are doing, in the way the question asked.
If the question gives a situation and asks for a proverb, the proverb has to fit that situation. A famous saying that answers a different problem is the wrong choice. If the question asks what a proverb means, do not tell a long story that never reaches the meaning. If it asks for the lesson of a story, name the story and then the lesson. A title with no meaning is only a name. Stay with texts you were taught. Do not invent a proverb and hope the meaning sounds right.
The Ghanaian Language tips guide asks for the saying and the meaning, not the saying alone. BECE Ghanaian Language tips
What earns the marks
Saying and meaning are a pair. One without the other is half an answer when the question asked for both. A situation the proverb does not fit loses the application mark. A story answer that retells every event, and never states the point the question named, misses the demand. The language is still the language of your entry.

No. The saying is the memory mark. The meaning, in the situation the question gave, is the other mark. A title with no meaning is only a name.
Can I use any proverb I like?+
Use one that fits the situation, from what you were taught. A famous proverb about a different problem does not answer the question. Do not invent a saying. All BECE Ghanaian Language past questions
