The Qur'an is the scripture. You need how it was revealed and preserved, which chapters are Makki or Madani, and the meaning and lesson of the set passages.
The idea
Revelation began with the first call to the Prophet. The words were memorised and also written. Later the community collected those writings into one book, and Uthman's standard text gave that book one form. Chapters revealed in Makkah and chapters revealed in Madinah are not the same set. The syllabus calls them Makki and Madani. If you are not sure which set a chapter belongs to, do not guess the label.
For a set chapter, give the meaning in your own words and one lesson. Al Fatihah is the opening prayer. Al Ikhlas teaches that Allah is one, needs nothing, does not beget and was not begotten, and has no equal. Al Falaq and An Nas ask for protection. Ad Duha, At Tin, Al Alaq, Al Qadr, Al Kafirun and An Nasr are learned the same way: meaning, then lesson. Moral teaching includes duty to parents, honesty, and what is forbidden, such as gambling. A verse number you cannot defend should stay off the page. A right meaning in clear English can score.
