BECE Science is a core subject. CSSPS counts it with English Language, Mathematics and Social Studies. Older notes call the same paper Integrated Science. WAEC sets the examination. GLearn does not, and GLearn does not publish a pass rate.
How the papers are set
WAEC Ghana publishes the scheme in its BECE guidelines. Read that file for the current timing and the marks. This page does not copy them, because a later file can change them. The structure in the guidelines is two papers, taken at one sitting.
Paper 1 is an objective paper. The items come from the whole syllabus, and you answer all of them.
Paper 2 is a written paper with two sections. Section A is one compulsory question on practical skills in agriculture, biology, chemistry and physics. Section B offers essay questions, and each essay blends those areas. Answer only the number the instructions ask for. Do not leave the compulsory question blank.
There is no separate laboratory paper in that scheme. Practical skill is tested in writing: a diagram, a labelled part, a short test you describe, or an observation you explain. Project work is different. Your teacher sets a project in class. WAEC sets the examination question. Practise both. A project style task still trains you to record what you did, what you saw, and what it means.
Topic areas from the curriculum
The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment publishes the Science curriculum for junior high school. It organises the work in five strands. Use them as a revision map. A strand is not a promise that every unit appears on your paper.
1. Diversity of matter
Materials, and living cells. Sorting substances, and the parts a cell uses to stay alive.
2. Cycles
Earth science, life cycles of organisms, crop production, and animal production. Repeated patterns in nature and on the farm.
3. Systems
The human body, the solar system, ecosystems, and farming systems. Name the part and the job it does.
4. Forces and energy
Energy, electricity and electronics, conversion and conservation, force and motion, and agricultural tools.
5. Humans and the environment
Waste, human health, science and industry, and climate. How people change a system, and how the system answers.

How to revise
Keep the work smaller than the syllabus. One strand, then questions, then the explanation.
1. Stay on one strand
Finish diversity of matter before you jump to electricity. A mixed pile feels busy and teaches less.
2. Answer before you read
Do the past question first. Then read why. Recognising an answer is not the same as being able to write the point.
3. Write a practical answer in three lines
What you do, what you see, and what it means. A project notebook uses the same three lines.
4. Draw from memory
Close the book, draw the diagram, then check the labels. A label with its job is worth more than a name alone.
5. Fit Science into the week
The revision plan orders the weeks across your subjects. When the official timetable is out, give the earliest paper more time. This page does not copy a date.
6. Have the answer marked
Kevin marks BECE Science on GLearn. Anna marks WASSCE Integrated Science. The first questions need no account.

Mistakes that cost marks
These are habits, not a secret list of questions. Fix the habit on the next paper you write.
1. Revising biology only
The written paper blends agriculture, biology, chemistry and physics. A week of human systems with no electricity and no crops leaves a hole.
2. Defining when the question asks for a test
If the question asks what you would do, an observation, or a labelled part, a definition does not answer it.
3. Swapping raw materials and products
In photosynthesis, carbon dioxide and water go in, and oxygen is given off. Chlorophyll traps light. It is not used up as a raw material.
4. Naming a part and not its job
Digested food is absorbed in the small intestine. Water is absorbed in the large intestine. The organ without the job is an incomplete point.
5. Answering every essay
Read the instruction and answer the number it asks for. Extra essays do not repair a blank compulsory question.
6. Dropping the unit
A measurement needs the quantity and the unit. A bare number is not a result.
