The aggregate

WAEC grades each subject from 1 to 9. Grade 1 is highest. The grade is a stanine: it says where you stood among everyone who sat that subject, not a fixed percentage. School assessment is 30 percent of the BECE and the external paper is 70 percent.

For SHS placement, CSSPS adds four cores and your two best other grades: English Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, plus two more. A lower total is better.
