WASSCE practice

Questions, answers, and what the grades mean. For students across Africa sitting the WASSCE.

The WASSCE is the West African Senior School Certificate Examination. School candidates and private candidates both sit it. WAEC sets and marks it. GLearn is exam prep for that paper: objective questions and written answers, marked against the scheme, with the reason written out. Anna is the coach on WASSCE practice.

Pick a subject, or open the past questions hub. No account for the first questions. To keep going, try WASSCE practice free.

WASSCE by country

WAEC sets the same examination in Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia. Each national office handles entry and results. These guides cover Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia. Candidates in Ghana can use the grade notes and the results guide on this page. Kevin and Anna help with the revision on each guide.

Grades and results

WAEC grades run from A1 to F9. A1 is Excellent and starts at 75. C6, from 50 to 54, is still a credit. D7 and E8 are passes. F9, below 40, is a fail. A Ghana aggregate adds the number in the grade: A1 counts as 1.

What is the WASSCE?+

The WASSCE is the West African Senior School Certificate Examination. Senior high students sit it, and so do private candidates. WAEC sets and marks it.

How does GLearn help with WASSCE practice?+

You practise objective and written questions. Written answers are marked against the mark scheme, with the marks and what was missing. Anna, your coach, explains the answer. You can start with no account.

What do WASSCE grades mean?+

WAEC uses A1, B2, B3, C4, C5, C6, D7, E8 and F9. A1 is Excellent, from 75 to 100. C6 is still a credit, from 50 to 54. D7 and E8 are passes. F9 is a fail, below 40.

Does GLearn check WASSCE results?+

No. WAEC releases results. GLearn does not check them, hold them, or send them. When you want to practise, you do that here.

Is the WASSCE the same exam in every WAEC country?+

Yes. WAEC sets and marks the same examination in Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia. Each country has its own national office for entry and results. GLearn is exam prep, not the office.
