WASSCE Management in Living past questions and answers

Eight multiple choice and two written, marked as you go. Free, no account.

ObjectiveQ1 of 10

Which group is a nuclear family?

The family

Answer: A. Parents and their children living together

A nuclear family is parents and their children living together. An extended family adds other relatives, such as grandparents and cousins. A village is a community, not one family type. Children with no adult are not the definition the paper uses. Name who lives there before you list an advantage.

ObjectiveQ2 of 10

Which task is a function of the family?

The family

Answer: B. Feeding, sheltering and teaching its members

The family feeds and shelters its members and teaches children how to live with other people. Printing money, setting an exam timetable and collecting tax are state work. A function needs a verb the family actually does. Affection and a sense of belonging are further true functions.

ObjectiveQ3 of 10

Which list is in the order of the management process?

Family resources

Answer: B. Planning, organising, implementing, evaluating

The process runs planning, then organising, then implementing, then evaluating. Planning chooses the goal. Organising gathers people and tools. Implementing does the work. Evaluating asks whether the goal was met. A list that starts with evaluating has reversed the process.

ObjectiveQ4 of 10

Which pair is a human resource and a material resource?

Family resources

Answer: A. Time and money

Time is a human resource. Money is a material resource. A cooking pot, a chair, electricity and charcoal are material. Two objects are not a human resource. Human resources also include energy, knowledge and skill. Both kinds are limited, which is why they are managed.

ObjectiveQ5 of 10

What is the difference between a house and a home?

Housing the family

Answer: B. A house is the building. A home is the building lived in with care

A house is the building. A home is that building with the family and the care inside it. Renting or owning does not decide the word. A house without a roof is not the definition. The distinction is a common mark, so give both sides.

ObjectiveQ6 of 10

What is the first help for a small burn in the kitchen?

Housing the family

Answer: B. Cool it with clean running water

Cool a small burn with clean running water. Do not apply a paste, and do not invent a drug dose. A deep or large burn needs a clinic. First aid is the immediate help before medical care. Prevention, such as turning pot handles in, is a separate point.

ObjectiveQ7 of 10

Which answer treats the meal as a management task?

Food management

Answer: B. A plan that names who will eat, the money, and the time to cook

Management in Living asks who the meal is for and what it costs in money and time. A vitamin list, a guessed calorie number, or a chemical formula is the nutrition science, which belongs on the Food and Nutrition paper. This paper still expects the food to be safe and suited to the people eating it.

ObjectiveQ8 of 10

What is impulse buying?

Consumer education

Answer: B. Buying an item because it caught the eye, not because it was planned

Impulse buying is unplanned. The item was bought because it was in front of the buyer. A list, a comparison of price and quality, and a receipt are the habits that resist it. The receipt matters later if the item is faulty. It is not the definition of the impulse itself.
